Cushion made from your pets fur!

Dalia Holsman from Love of Weaving creates gorgeous fur-baby cushions.

There’s a reason why 62% of Australians have pets. Their love is unconditional. They don’t care how you look, what you do, what mistakes you might make. You are their world and that’s all that matters.

From the best branded toys to doggy day-care, private pet insurance and premium dog foods and treats, nothing but the best will do. Our fur babies are part of the family after all. So why do we not continue to honour them when they’re gone?

Holsman created the cushions because “a fur-baby cushion means you can still have a part of them around you, even when they are no longer here.”

Dalia says, “the next time you take your dog to the pet groomers, make sure you ask for the fur that they collect after they have finished. I can take that fur and weave it into a beautiful cushion so you will always have your dog near you, even after they have gone.”

“When they’re alive, we’ll do anything we can to express our love for them. This is why we care so deeply and love them so unconditionally. It’s also why we’re left with a horrible void when they’re gone,” says Holsman.

To create a cushion, I need about one supermarket shopping bag filled with groomed fur. I then clean it, have it spun into yarn which I then use to create these upmarket cushions that are a stunning addition to any home. But they will mean so much more to you.

So next time you take your precious pooch to the groomer, ask them to keep the fur. Whether you decide to act now while your dog is still alive or find you’re longing for a reminder of them once they’re gone, by keeping the fur, it ensures that these beautiful cushions will still be a possibility to comfort and remind you long after they’re gone.
